What an Open Invite is

An Open Invite is a plan or event you share with a link. These terms explain how Open Invites and shared links work, and what we expect from creators and recipients. They sit alongside our Terms of Service.

If you create an Open Invite

  • You control the invite. You decide who receives the link and what the invite contains. For privacy purposes, you are the controller of the invite content you create.
  • You pick the audience. Your invite reaches the people and groups you explicitly select — you pick them from your friends, followers, and mutual connections, or choose a group. No one is included just because of a relationship category, and an invite with no selected audience reaches no one. Choose the audience and the location precision accordingly.
  • Description and details. You can add an optional description and other details; you remain responsible for the content you add.
  • Participant visibility. You can choose whether the number of people attending and the guest list are visible to people viewing the invite. You always see full participation as the creator.
  • In-app re-sharing. People who join your invite can re-share it — only to people or groups they explicitly pick, and being picked is what grants access to view the invite. Re-sharing is on by default — you can turn it off for each invite. Blocks always override: someone you have blocked never gains access through a re-share.
  • Appreciations. People can send a “heart” to your invite. When they do, you see who sent it — hearts are not anonymous.
  • Get consent for others’ details. Do not post identifiable photos or personal details of other people without their agreement.
  • Photos are safety-checked. A photo or video you add to an invite goes through an automated safety review before it is shown to others. If the media is declined, the invite is removed, and you can contest the decision — see our Acceptable Use Policy.
  • You can revoke it at any time. Deleting the invite stops the link working for everyone. We honour deletion.
  • Link forwarding. Anyone you give the link to may pass it on, but opening the invite requires signing in and being part of its audience. Still: share thoughtfully, and do not include content you would not want forwarded.

Every invite has an expiry, which you set when you create it. The link stops working when the invite expires or you delete it.

  • An Apperah account is needed to take part. An invite link opens the Apperah app and asks you to sign in or create an account first; receiving a link creates no account or obligation for you.
  • Be respectful. Our Acceptable Use Policy applies to what you do with shared content.

Reporting a problem

If a shared invite contains something harmful or unlawful, report it from the invite or at support@apperah.com.
